Winter at Dorking library

Hello friends,

This December we have fun things planned so why not join us for these events? All events need booking in advance. You can book at the desk or send us DM on our social media. Christmas Rhymetime on Friday 17th is filling up quickly so don’t miss your chance to sing the most beautiful Christmas rhymes and songs with us.

We wish you the warmest and happiest Christmas from all staff at Dorking library!

We already had our first event from the list. It was a card making craft session and you can see some of the stunning creations.

Come and join us at 10:30 this Saturday, 11th December for a very special Christmas Storytime with Author @auxi.benitez_author

Winter Mini Challenge

The Winter Mini Challenge encourages children to keep up their reading habits over the winter holidays, with a free-to-access website featuring rewards and incentives for reading and reviewing books.

Read at least three books and add them to your online profile at www.wintermini.org.uk to earn fun digital rewards! You’ll find loads of other great stuff too.

Molly’s Cockerel’s Choice

My choice for this month is Our House by Louise Candlish.

There are very few books that have genuinely made me gasp out loud. This is probably the only one that has done it in the first chapter!
Our House is a thriller with a fantastic premise that keeps you guessing right until the end. Warning, may make you wonder for a split second if you can really trust your nearest and dearest… – Molly.

Message from Dorking & District u3a

Back in November, 30 of our members went on a private visit of West Horsley House.  We also held our 30th AGM at the Christian Centre.

In December, many of our groups meet for Christmas lunch or tea so thereโ€™s less going on. However, thereโ€™s a festive theme to our December monthly meeting.

There are a number of online presentations and events.  Third Age Trust is organising a series of talks to commemorate โ€˜National Kindertransport Day.โ€™  Details can be found on u3a – Online Learning Events.

Hereโ€™s wishing everyone a peaceful Christmas and New Year.

Our activities resume on 12 January starting with a monthly talk on the Haida Nation presented by local author and traveller, Geoff Saunders.  As 2022 is the 40th anniversary of the u3a movement, we are planning a number of summer events, including a Barn Dance in June.
