Last week was filled with fun and great mood at Dorking Library. Here’s what we were up to for the Queen’s Platinum Jubilee celebration week.

The week has started with a Royal Friends treasure hunt for our little readers. They had to find princes and princesses hidden in the library. Each of the Royals have made an animal friend so children had to lift the crowns to match the Royals with their correct partners. Elsa was a big favourite of many!

We have also asked our young customers to help us out by creating a Jubilee Feast table which is on display at Dorking library for another week. We only wish these plates were filled with real food…

For our adult readers we had a Big Jubilee Read display ready. The Big Jubilee Read is a reading for pleasure campaign celebrating great authors from across the Commonwealth. The list offers brilliant, beautiful and thrilling writing including recognisable classics and lesser-known gems just waiting to be discovered. All the books on the display are brand new which makes it a delight to choose from.

On Tuesday our staff at Dorking library had a great day as it was Tiara Tuesday. Just give us an excuse to dress up, we are all there for it! Feeling as kings and queens we hosted two crafting sessions where we made gorgeous tissue paper roses in red, blue and white colours. There was tea and coffee available and we have done the Queenly Quiz to test everyone’s knowledge.

On Wednesday we sang songs during Rhymetime which was followed by a Storytime where we read the amazing Queen’s Lift Off by Steve Antony. Afterwards we were giving out great family activity packs made by Surrey Heritage to make at home or in the library.

What a great way to start a bank holiday it was!
